At Temple Meadow, it is school policy to wear school uniform. Our school uniform plays a key role in promoting pride, self-confidence and a feeling of belonging to our school community. Wearing a uniform also removes any additional pressures children and their families may feel about having the latest expensive brands. From a health and safety perspective, it is important our children have short nails and limited jewellery (please see below for more details).

Socks	White/grey/black or muted design
Tights	White/grey/red/black or muted design
Shoes	Sensible, flat, black/brown/grey Can be a trainer type shoe but must be completely plain and black. Visible branded trainers are not permitted. In winter months a flat plain sensible ankle boot can be worn but must be plain and allow for children to move easily such as sitting cross-legged in an assembly or classroom. Anything that doesn’t allow for ease of movement is not suitable.
Headscarves	Plain black/grey/brown/red
Summer options:
Shorts	Grey/black
Culottes	Tailored grey/black
Dresses	Red and white striped or checked
Sandals	Sensible, low-heeled or flat, buckles or velcro – sandals that allow a child to run and access the site safely (not flip flops)
Caps/ Sun Hats	Must be plain. Branded and or caps with logos are not school uniform
Sunglasses	Children do not need these at school

PE Kit

In the interests of safety and hygiene, teachers must insist on children changing into the following kit for PE lessons. 

Black shorts/skirt and a white T-shirt for indoors lessons in the dance studio (track-suit bottoms and sweatshirts should only be worn on the playground/ field on a cold day) and black pumps or plimsolls.

During PE, all stud earrings must either be independently removed by your child or covered using tape brought from home.

Jewellery

Children should not wear any jewellery to school (one small stud in each ear is acceptable).

Hair

We actively encourage all children to tie their hair back (where long enough to do so). There are many reasons for this, including health and safety, hygiene, focus and learning, uniformity and practicality.

Mobile Phones

Mobile phones, smart technology and other non-essential items are not allowed in school. Year 6 pupils who walk home from school are allowed to bring their phone into school. Phones will be stored safely until the end of the school day.

Valuables: School cannot be held responsible for the loss of any jewellery, money and other personal items
