Inclusion & Safeguarding

Safeguarding

At Temple Meadow Primary School, we have established a culture in which safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, ensuring that children are kept safe, feel safe and know where to go for support when they need it.

We are committed to maintaining an open, positive and vigilant safeguarding culture where the interests, welfare and safety of every child come first. We believe that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and our staff work proactively with families, external agencies and safeguarding partners to ensure children receive the support, protection and care they need. We actively listen to the views of children and families, promote a culture where concerns can be raised confidently, and ensure that all safeguarding practices are kept under continual review so that every child feels safe, valued and ready to thrive.

Anyone can report a safeguarding concern, no matter how small it may seem. If you have any concerns that a child has been harmed, may be at risk of harm, or if something does not feel right, please contact the School Office as soon as possible and ask to speak to a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). We would always rather be made aware of a concern that turns out to be nothing than miss an opportunity to keep a child safe.

Pastoral Support Team

At Temple Meadow Primary School, we are fortunate to have dedicated pastoral support available to support both children and their families. We understand that children achieve their best when they feel safe, valued and supported and we recognise that barriers outside the classroom can sometimes affect a child's wellbeing.

Our pastoral team works closely with children, families, staff and external agencies to provide family help and practical support when needed. This may include supporting emotional wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, friendships, family circumstances and access to wider services. Through strong relationships and a child-centred approach, we help ensure that every child feels a sense of belonging and is ready to thrive.

We believe that families are key partners in a child's education and wellbeing. Our pastoral team is always available to listen, offer guidance and work collaboratively with families to identify the most appropriate support. Whether a concern is small or significant, we encourage families to reach out so that help can be provided at the earliest opportunity.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of your child's wellbeing or family circumstances, you can find them at our Community Hub, at the start and the end of the school day. Alternatively, you can contact our School Office.

Working With Wider Agencies

At Temple Meadow Primary School, we recognise that children and families sometimes benefit from additional support. We work closely with a range of partner agencies, including Sandwell Children’s Trust, health services, family support teams, and community organisations, to ensure children and families receive the right help at the right time. These agencies work together to provide joined-up support that helps children feel safe, happy and ready to learn.

As part of this commitment, we support the Families First approach, which focuses on providing family help, strengthening family networks and bringing services together around the needs of children and families. By working collaboratively with other professionals, we can identify concerns early and ensure families receive coordinated and effective support before difficulties escalate.

If you feel your family would benefit from additional support, please speak to a member of our safeguarding or pastoral team. We will always seek to work in partnership with families to identify the most appropriate support available.
