Key Information

Nursery

It is widely recognised that children who benefit from pre-school education settle more quickly into full-time schooling. At Temple Meadow, we are proud of our outstanding Nursery provision, which provides children with a strong foundation for future learning and development. Our Nursery offers a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive environment where children can grow in confidence, develop key skills and foster a lifelong love of learning.

We welcome children aged 3 and 4 and offer a range of funded Nursery places to meet the needs of families. A child's name can be added to our waiting list at any time.

Our Early Years provision is a real strength. In our most recent Ofsted inspection, it was highly praised for its quality of provision, enriching experiences and strong leadership. Where children have additional needs, we pride ourselves on early identification and tailored support to ensure every child can thrive. Over time, our outcomes in terms of GLD (Good Level of Development) at the end of Early Years remain consistently strong.

Session Times

 We offer:

  • Morning Session: 8:45am to 11:45am
  • Afternoon Session: 12:30pm to 3:30pm
  • 30-Hour Provision: 8:45am to 3:30pm, including a 45-minute lunch break

Whilst we will do our best to accommodate your preferred session, places are subject to availability.

Nursery Intake Dates

We admit children at four points throughout the academic year, depending on their date of birth and availability of places.

Intake Start Date
Intake 1 First week of the academic year in September
Intake 2 Final week in September
Intake 3 First week after the Christmas holiday
Intake 4 First week after the Easter holiday

In the event that the Nursery is oversubscribed, places will be allocated in line with our admissions arrangements and a waiting list will be maintained.

Rising 3s Provision

Our Rising 3s provision is designed for children who turn three during their first term with us. Applications are usually categorised as either:

  • Working Families
  • Non-Working Families
Non-Working Families

Families may be eligible for 15 funded hours. Applications should be completed through the Family Information Service website under the"Families in receipt of additional support" route. Once approved, families should provide their eligibility code and a copy of the Family Information Service confirmation email to the school.

Working Families

Working families may be entitled to up to 30 funded hours. Further information can be found in the 30-Hour Provision section below.

30-Hour Provision

We offer 30-hour Nursery places for eligible families, providing full-day provision from 8:45am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

To apply:

  1. Complete a Nursery Application Form.
  2. Apply for your eligibility code through GOV.UK.
  3. Submit your eligibility code and National Insurance number to the school.
Important Deadlines

To access a 30-hour place at the earliest available intake point, codes must be provided by:

  • 31 August for Intakes 1 and 2
  • 31 December for Intake 3
  • 31 March for Intake 4

Applications received after these dates may need to wait until the next intake point.

Supplementary Charge

Families accessing our 30-hour provision are required to pay a £2.80 daily supplementary charge to cover the additional 45 minutes provided beyond funded entitlement. This charge is payable through the My Child at School (MCAS) app.

Failure to pay the supplementary charge for a period of four weeks may result in the 30-hour place being withdrawn and reduced to a universal 15-hour place.

Childcare Grant Payment Service (CCGPS)

Temple Meadow Primary School is registered with the Childcare Grant Payment Service (CCGPS) and can accept applications for full-time Nursery places funded through the Student Finance England Childcare Grant.

How It Works

Families wishing to use the Childcare Grant should:

  1. Submit a Nursery Application Form.
  2. Register with the Childcare Grant Payment Service.
  3. Complete the registration process using Student Finance details.
  4. Approve childcare payment requests when notified.

CCGPS may pay up to 85% of eligible childcare costs directly to the school, with families responsible for any remaining balance. Outstanding balances are charged through MCAS.

Families using CCGPS must:

  • Remain registered with CCGPS.
  • Keep Student Finance information up to date.
  • Approve payment requests promptly.
  • Inform the school of any changes to eligibility.
  • Pay any balances due within four weeks.

Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in a full-time place being reduced to a universal 15-hour place until any outstanding balance has been cleared.

Before Your Child Starts

Before your child joins our Nursery, you will receive a welcome pack containing:

  • Details of your child's settle-in session and start date.
  • Admission and consent forms.
  • Medical and contact information forms.

All admission paperwork must be completed and returned before your child's start date.

Visiting Our Nursery

We would be delighted to welcome you to see our Nursery in action. If you would like to arrange a visit or find out more about our provision, please contact the School Office

Moving on to Reception

Children attending Temple Meadow Nursery must still apply separately for a Reception place through the Local Authority admissions process. Families will receive information about this process during the academic year before their child starts school, and we will provide reminders and support to help ensure applications are submitted on time.
