Year 3 Gospel Music Performance
Year 3 has been working really hard during the spring term, learning about Gospel Music.
Throughout the topic, pupils listened to a range of gospel music throughout the unit and were asked:
How does this music make you feel? Is the pulse the same in each song? How has it changed?
Year 3 then took part in a Gospel Workshop where they learnt about the origin of Gospel Music.
They then started to learn how to play the glockenspiel; learning that it is a percussion instrument and that it consists of a set of metal bars arranged similarly to a piano keyboard and players use mallets to strike the bars and produce musical notes.
As their journey continued, they started to listen to and appraise different types of Gospel songs and discuss how they are different and similar. Pupils focused on learning ‘Lean on Me’ using their glockenspiels as well as learning to sing it. They then worked hard to remember the words and the musical instrument's notes, which, for some of the children, was their first time.
It was lovely to see so many Parents/Carers in attendance for our Year 3 Gospel Music Performance yesterday. Thank you to those who came to support their children as they showcased what they had learnt during the spring term.
