Key Messages:

School Uniform

At Temple Meadow it is school policy to wear school uniform.  We believe that this helps promote positive identity and unity, supports discipline, sets standards and prevents pupils from wearing unsafe, unsuitable ‘fashion’ clothing and shoes, which can also be more costly and harder to replace. Sweatshirts, cardigans, reversible fleece/waterproofs, fleeces and polo shirts with the school logo are all available from Ace Embroidery via their website https://templeps.ace-online.co.uk/catalogue in a range of sizes. Direct link available on Temple Meadow website.

PE

  • Our Year 3 PE day is Thursday so please make sure your PE kit is brought into school on the first day back and stays in school until the end of the half term/term. We will be teaching PE outside as much as possible so please ensure your child has tracksuit bottoms and a sweatshirt with them incase of cold weather.

Reading

  • You will receive a reading book on your first day back in September.  This will be pitched based on the most recent assessment data we have for you, from before school partially closed.
  • From week 2, you will take home a reading book and a library book.
  • From week 2, we will be completing new reading assessments with you so your book band may be adjusting to reflect most recent assessment data.
  • Please ensure your reading books and reading record are handed in each week and have been signed by an adult. New reading books will then be issued on a Monday.
  • Each week's Star of the Week, will get to bring in and share a favourite book in our Friday Favourites session and receive the Friday Favourites certificate!

Water bottles

  • You can bring a water bottle into school (filled with water only). Please remember to put your name on the bottle.

Homework

  • Homework should be handed in by Wednesday and new homework will be issued on a Friday.
  • Homework will include:
  • Maths task linked to learning in school
  • x1 task from the cross curricular home learning grid (English and wider curriculum)
  • Reading each night
  • Phonics for some children

Top Tips for helping your children with their homework:

•    Ensure that there is a quiet area for your child to work in away from any distractions i.e. television, radio etc.
•    Ask your child what their home learning task is, this allows you as a parent to check their understanding of the activity.
•    Be prepared to support your child if necessary i.e. reading the task to ensure clarity.
•    Encourage your child to complete the home learning task when they are fresh and alert, before bedtime is not ideal.
•    Don’t complete home learning for your child or allow older siblings to complete the tasks (the exception is Irresistible Learning).
•    When reading with your child, encourage them to use their phonic knowledge to help to sound out any words that can be phonetically read.
•    Ensure that you allow your child an adequate amount of time to complete their home learning task/s.
•    If you are unsure how to support your child at home please don’t hesitate to speak to your child’s teacher. At Temple Meadow we like to work in partnership with parents and will be happy to show parents how strategies are taught in school to support children’s learning
