Friday 9th January 2026

I would like to take this opportunity to wish those of you I haven’t seen in person this week a very happy New Year.

All of the staff at Temple Meadow Primary began the week with a shared piece of professional learning, as we welcomed Jenny Nock to deliver attachment and trauma training. This was a valuable opportunity for us to collectively reflect on the impact that trauma can have on children’s development, and to explore how we can continue to apply a trauma‑informed approach when working with all children.

Tuesday brought with it the difficult decision to close the school site. Our site team are always here from 5.45am, working closely with me to support the decision‑making process, and I would like to thank them for their commitment. Storm Gretti also made itself known this week and may continue to cause some disruption over the weekend.

Despite the challenges, it has been lovely to see everyone back this week. We hope that next week brings a more settled start to the spring term.

School clubs will be back up and running next week. You will already have been informed if your child has been allocated a place, and this information can also be viewed on the MCAS app.

A reminder that the deadline for applications for Reception places for September 2026 is 15th January. If you are yet to submit an application, or if you know someone who may be interested in their child starting at Temple Meadow, please ensure applications are completed and submitted to the local authority by this date.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Reminder: Temple Meadow is a Nut-Free School

We’d like to remind families that Temple Meadow is a nut-free school to keep all children safe, as we have several with severe nut allergies.

Please do not send any products containing nuts, including:

  • Whole or chopped nuts
  • Cereal bars with nuts
  • Chocolate bars with nuts (e.g., Snickers)
  • Nut-based spreads (e.g., Nutella, peanut butter)
  • Confectionery with nut ingredients (e.g., Kinder Bueno)
  • Any other nut-containing products

Even small amounts of nuts can pose a serious risk. If these items are brought to school, they will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our children safe.

Important Weather Update – School Closure Following careful monitoring of the latest weather forecasts and local ground conditions, we will be closed on Friday 9 January 2026. This decision has been made due to the severe weather conditions forecast for our area and the Amber Weather Warning issued by the Met Office. Sandwell Council has also advised against travel during the storm period and we must prioritise the safety of our children, families and staff. Please stay safe and check your MCAS app for any further updates.

Weather Update – Storm Goretti We're closely monitoring Storm Goretti, which is bringing heavy rain, strong winds and snow across the UK. Forecasts predict up to 10cm of snow in the Midlands, with some areas seeing as much as 30cm. The safety of our children, families, and staff is our top priority. School may need to close tomorrow (Friday 9th January) if conditions make the site unsafe. We'll review updates throughout the day and share a decision as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and support.
