Friday 28th November 2025

In preparing my Headteacher report for the Governors this week, I was reminded once again of the truly exceptional experiences our school provides. The report begins with a section dedicated to our outstanding curriculum enrichment opportunities and I am so incredibly proud of the depth of learning our children are able to access.

This week has certainly been no different. Next week, Christmas arrives at Temple Meadow and it's essential to ensure you are fully up to speed with all of the Christmas event dates scheduled across the school - you can find these at the bottom of this family connect.

Huggle Pets

We are absolutely delighted to share that Murphy, our cherished Huggle Pets therapy dog, has been on a very special reading tour! Murphy has visited classes in the school this week to share a story, captivating our children with a wonderful tale.

It has been such a joy to see children getting the opportunity to experience, enjoy, and learn alongside our wonderful Huggle Pets. These interactions are so valuable for fostering a love of reading, promoting empathy, and making learning a shared, exciting adventure. He is back the next two weeks for the reamining classes.

Bikeability for Year 6

May be an image of one or more people, segway, bicycle, scooter and roadSome of our Year 6 children have been taking part in Bikeability, learning vital skills to cycle safely and confidently. It’s been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and progress! For those who haven’t had their turn yet, don’t worry, Bikeability will return in May, giving the remaining Year 6 children their chance to take part.

School Council Visit for UK Parliament Week

On Tuesday, some of our school council MPs visited Oldbury Council House as part of UK Parliament Week. Inside the council chambers, they learnt about budgets, rights and representation. They spoke so highly of how Temple Meadow’s school council works and how they share the voices of their classmates in pupil parliament meetings.

A highlight of the day was meeting the Mayor of Sandwell, who explained his role within the borough. Our MPs were very curious about where he bought his special robes!

Reception Open Event

Also on Tuesday, we hosted our Reception Open Event. It was lovely to see so many families in attendance and we hope to welcome your children into our Reception cohort next year.

Year 2 Theatre Trip

May be an image of christmas treeYesterday, I had the pleasure of supporting Year 2 who had an amazing time at the theatre watching Cinderella. The show had them giggling, gasping, completely swept up in the magic and the excitement didn’t end there! They even had the chance to meet the cast afterwards, which was the cherry on top. Such a brilliant experience for them and we are so proud of how well they represented Temple Meadow. A huge thank you to our Parent Volunteers who joined us too!

Choir at the SIPS Big Sing

Today, our Choir After School Club visited The Phoenix Collegiate to take part in the SIPS Big Sing event. Alongside other primary schools from across Sandwell, they celebrated their musical talents in a festive and collaborative setting. What a fantastic way to end the week!

Book Fair

We were delighted to host our Book Fair in school this week and it was wonderful to see so many children excited about choosing new books to enjoy.

A huge thank you to all our families for your support - whether through purchasing books or simply encouraging a love of reading at home. Your contributions help us earn rewards for even more books for our classrooms and library.

School Meal Selector Coming Soon to MCAS

You may have noticed during last week’s Family Engagement Evening that we mentioned the upcoming launch of the School Meal Selector on the MCAS app. This new feature will allow you to select your child’s school meals in advance – a wonderful opportunity to sit down together, explore the menu and make choices that suit them best.

We originally hoped to launch this feature on Monday 1st December. However, due to some technical issues (which will soon be resolved), the launch has been pushed back to Monday 8th December.

It is imperative that all families who have an outstanding school meal balance clear their balance before Friday 5th December 2025 to ensure you are able to select a meal option moving forward.

A letter with full details will be sent to families shortly. Thank you for your patience and support as we introduce this exciting new option!

🎨 Drawing Competition Winners! 📚

A huge thank you to all our children who entered the Book Fair Drawing Competition – we had over 100 amazing entries! Our Head Boys and Girls had the very tough job of choosing the winners, and they were blown away by the creativity on display.

Congratulations to our five winners, who will each receive a £5 voucher to spend at the Book Fair! 🏆✨

Thank you to everyone who took part and made this such a fun and exciting event alongside our Book Fair. We’re so proud of all your fantastic artwork! 🎉
