It’s been an incredibly busy and rewarding week at Temple Meadow, with us marking Anti-Bullying Week, taking time for Remembrance, and welcoming a number of visitors into school to enrich our children’s learning experiences. From engaging workshops to important awareness talks, it’s been a week full of meaningful activities that reflect our commitment to creating a safe, respectful and inspiring environment for all.
Odd Socks Day
We started the week with Odd Socks Day to celebrate Anti-Bullying Week. It was amazing to see so many children taking part and showing their support for kindness and respect.
Health and Hygiene Workshops
This week, School Nurses were in school delivering a variety of sessions across different year groups, supporting children with important health topics.
Our Reception children enjoyed a fantastic session led by the Sandwell School Nurses, focusing on keeping hands and teeth clean. The workshop began with a fun ‘glitter germs’ experiment to show how easily germs spread, followed by practical advice on washing hands for at least 20 seconds after using the toilet, sneezing, or before eating.
The session then moved on to dental hygiene, teaching children to brush for two minutes, twice a day, using a pea-sized amount of toothpaste—and importantly, not rinsing afterward to maximise fluoride’s benefits. They also learnt about healthy eating and the role of the dentist.
Children left with a new toothbrush and toothpaste to help reinforce these habits at home. A huge thank you to our school health nurse team for their time and expertise.
Remembrance Day
On Tuesday at 11am, we paused to honour all those who have served and sacrificed. Children across the school took part in thoughtful activities and created beautiful pieces of work, which are now displayed around the school. These reflect their understanding, compassion, and respect for this important occasion.
Important Talks

Thursday was a day of learning and awareness. The Anti-Bullying Roadshow visited to speak with our children, reinforcing the importance of kindness and standing up against bullying.
We also welcomed West Midlands Police, who delivered an informative session to our Year 5 and Year 6 children on the dangers of knife crime and how to stay safe.
Children in Need
Today, we celebrated Children in Need! Thank you to everyone for your generous donations and for encouraging our children to challenge themselves for such an important cause. Together, we’ve helped raise vital funds for the BBC Children in Need appeal.
Family Engagement Evening – Next Week!
We’re excited to invite families to our Family Engagement Evening on Wednesday 19th November 2025. This event is a great opportunity to connect with staff, explore ways to support your child’s learning at home, and celebrate our school community.
Please note: Families of Class 1D will have their session on Thursday 20th November 2025.
Tesco Stronger Starts
We are delighted to share some fantastic news with our Temple Meadow community! Thanks to your incredible support, Temple Meadow secured the most votes in the Tesco Stronger Starts campaign.
As a result, we have been awarded £1,500, which is already being invested in our ongoing HugglePets Wellbeing Sessions. These sessions play a vital role in supporting our children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing. Through animal-assisted activities, they create calm, nurturing experiences that help children feel safe and supported.
This achievement would not have been possible without our wonderful families and local community. Every single token counted – and you made it happen!
Thank you for believing in this project and helping us provide the very best opportunities for our children to thrive.
