Friday 24th October 2025

As we continue through the school year, you will undoubtedly see and hear about the many exciting things happening around the school, from extracurricular activities to celebrations of our children's achievements. We love sharing these positive experiences with you!

In addition to these updates, I want to commit to sharing more information with you this year about the substance of your child's education, our ongoing curriculum design and development across all subjects, both core and foundation.

As a school, we are deeply committed to ensuring that our curriculum is designed on the latest educational research and evidence. This means we are continually reviewing and updating what we teach and how we teach it to ensure your children receive the most effective and high-quality education possible.

One significant area of focus for us this year is strengthening our teaching of numeracy and early mathematical concepts. To ensure we are using the very best approaches, we are proud to be working with two leading educational organisations. We are participating in the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) Mastering Number Effectiveness Trial. The EEF is an independent charity that generates and shares high-quality evidence of what works best in teaching. By being part of this trial, we are directly contributing to and benefiting from cutting-edge research. We are also working closely with our Maths Hub to further strengthen our whole-school approach to Mastery in Number. This collaboration ensures our staff receive the highest level of specialist training and support.

We are excited about the positive impact this work will have on our children's foundational mathematical skills and their confidence with numbers. We will provide further updates on our progress and development across all curriculum areas throughout the year. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to provide an excellent education for all our children.

As we reach the close of our first half term, I want to extend a sincere thank you for your continued support. Your partnership is invaluable to our school's success.

This is just a reminder that on Monday 3rd November 2025, school will be closed to all children as our staff will be in school for dedicated OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) training. We are committed to enhancing the quality of play and learning experiences for all our pupils. We look forward to seeing all of you again on Tuesday 4th November 2025.

We wish everyone a safe and restful break!

Essential Building Improvements Over Half Term

We are committed to providing the best possible learning environment for our pupils and as such, we have scheduled a significant amount of essential building improvement work to take place over the upcoming half-term holiday.

This work is designed to enhance the safety and quality of our school buildings. While we always aim to complete projects swiftly, we want to inform you of the necessary measures we are taking and how this will impact the start of the new half-term.

Key Work Being Undertaken

During the holiday, the following areas will be receiving attention:

  • KS1 Building: The sub-floor in the corridor will be repaired and new carpeting will be laid.
  • KS2 Building (Main Block): This will be a large-scale project including flat roof repairs and the replacement of high-level windows in the dining hall.

Return to School: Scaffolding and Safety

Please be aware that the KS2 roofing repairs are an extensive project and the necessary scaffolding will still be in place on site when the children return after the holiday.

We understand that the presence of scaffolding may cause concern, but we want to assure you that a detailed risk assessment has been completed and approved by the school and contractors. This ensures that all operations will be carried out in a safe manner that does not compromise the safety of our children or staff while the school is open.

Amazing Art!

In their recent Art lessons, Year 5 have been exploring the work of the artist Thorpe. Using pastels, they have been creating their own pieces inspired by Thorpe's unique style.

The children have shown great skill in mastering a challenging technique and we are incredibly proud of the beautiful artwork they have produced. Children's work will be showcased during our upcoming Family Engagement Evening.

Proud to Be Me

Creating moments of belonging is at the heart of our mission, as it is foundational to building a child's confidence. This focus culminated in our wonderful "Proud to Be Me" celebration parade earlier this week. A huge thank you to Miss Dale for organising this memorable event! It was lovely to see every child parade and share their unique strengths through their crown designs.

Our celebration assembly this morning was the perfect finale, where we recognised our Belong Value Champions. These children have consistently demonstrated what it means to foster an inclusive and supportive environment. They will now be wearing their Belong Badge with pride!

Huggle Pets

We are delighted to share that the positive work with Huggle Pets continues in school, providing engaging and beneficial sessions for different groups of our children.

We are still patiently awaiting the outcome of our application for the TESCO Stronger Starts grant. We will keep you updated.

School Reminders

Label Uniform
Please ensure all items of your child’s uniform are clearly labelled with their name. This helps us to quickly return any lost items to their rightful owner.

Bring a Coat
As the weather is becoming colder and wetter, please make sure your child brings a suitable coat to school each day.

Morning Preparation
We have noticed an increase in water bottles and items of clothing being brought to the School Office after the start of the day. Please ensure your child arrives at school with everything they need for the day to help avoid disruption to lessons.
