Friday 10th October 2025

What a fantastic week at Temple Meadow! We started by celebrating our Harvest Festival, and I want to sincerely thank you for your generous donations which went to the amazing local charity, the Black Country Food Bank. We understand that times can be challenging, so please encourage anyone you know who is struggling to speak to a member of our pastoral support team, as we can issue food bank vouchers.

We love seeing the Huggle Pets team in school each week, providing wonderful therapeutic support to our children.

This week, we held our Open Event, welcoming around 20 new families to the school; it's always a pleasure to showcase everything we have to offer, the link to book onto our second open event in November is below.

Finally, today we celebrated World Mental Health Day, and it was lovely to deliver our star assembly to a sea of cheerful yellow, supporting charities like Young Minds who help the most vulnerable young people.

Please also remember that Thursday 16th October is our whole school photography day.

We are pleased to share that next week our Early Help Police Officer will be visiting school to deliver a workshop to our Year 5 and Year 6 children. The session will focus on bullying and hate crime - exploring what these are, how to respond appropriately, and how to seek support. We believe this will be an invaluable opportunity for our children to develop a deeper understanding of these important issues.

Reception 2026

The application window for Reception 2026 places opened on Monday 15th September 2025.

Come and discover why Temple Meadow is the perfect place for your child by joining us at our Reception Open Event.

Home Learning Update

We are writing to you today to share a small but important update to our home learning policy for Years 1-6.

We have been listening to your feedback and we understand that while some children thrive with open-ended, imaginative writing tasks, others find them less engaging. In response to this, we have decided to make a small adaptation to the weekly home learning.

After half term, we will alternate the weekly writing outcome with a Maths outcome. This means that one week, your child will have a writing task, and the following week, they will have a Maths task. We believe this will help to keep home learning fresh and exciting and provide a greater variety of activities for your children.

We value your partnership in your child's education and appreciate your feedback.

Thank you for your continued support.

Free Learn to Ride Sessions – West Smethwick Park

We’re pleased to share that BikeRight are offering free Learn to Ride sessions at West Smethwick Park on 27th October 2025 for children aged 7 and above.

This is a fantastic opportunity for children to learn how to ride a bike with expert guidance. Please note that children will need to bring their own bike and helmet.

Respect for Our Neighbours

We must remind all families that under no circumstances should driveways or access points to residents’ homes be blocked when dropping off or collecting children.

This continues to cause frustration and inconvenience for our neighbours and is not acceptable. Please park safely and respectfully, even if this means walking a short distance to school. We all have a responsibility to keep our community safe and considerate.
