Friday 12th September 2025

We are extremely proud of how well all our children, from Reception to Year 6, have continued to settle and have completed their first full week. It has been a joy to see them return with such enthusiasm, ready to learn and reconnect with their friends and teachers. We have also had the pleasure of welcoming our new Nursery children, and it's been wonderful to see them begin to make themselves at home.

Thank you to all the families who attended our "Meet the Teacher" events this week. We have been so grateful for the incredible turnout and your commitment to ensuring a strong partnership between home and school. Your engagement is invaluable to your child’s success. We have posted lots of photos from the events on our Facebook page, so please feel free to take a look!

We look forward to seeing the remaining year groups at their "Meet the Teacher" events next week.

It was also great to host our first Star of the Week assembly this morning. Thank you to all those parents who joined us to celebrate their child’s achievements – it was a wonderful start to this important weekly tradition.

CTS Cricket

We want to give a massive thank you to Chance To Shine cricket! This week, they've been in school running amazing sessions with our Year 2 and 3 children, and their new after-school club has just started for Years 4 and 5.

We love giving our children new opportunities and experiences like this; you never know who will be inspired and find a new passion.

Outdoor Plan and Learning

Ashdown Primary School - Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL)

Some exciting news about an upcoming initiative at Temple Meadow. As you know, we are always looking for ways to improve our children learning and well-being, and after a great deal of research and discussion, we have decided to introduce OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) to our school.

OPAL is a program that aims to transform our playground into a dynamic and engaging space where children can explore, create, and learn through play. It's a fantastic way to enhance creativity, problem-solving skills, and physical activity.

To get us started, our November INSET day will be dedicated to OPAL training. We've arranged for an OPAL advisor to lead a session, providing us with the knowledge and tools we need to make this program a huge success.

Take a look at this short video to get a flavour of OPAL

Amazing play, every day, for every child

HugglePets

Murphy, the therapy dog, has been in school this week as part of our HugglePets support. Thanks again for all of your efforts with fundraising last year to make this possible.

Safety in PE

To ensure the safety of all children during physical education, we would like to remind everyone of our policy on jewellery. All children are required to remove all jewellery, including earrings, before every PE lesson.

If a child has recently had their ears pierced and cannot remove their earrings, they must come to school with them already taped over to protect the earlobe from injury. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep everyone safe and active.
