Friday 4th July 2025

It's hard to believe we have just 10 school days remaining, but there's still so much to do and celebrate as the term draws to a close.

This past week has been full of special moments. Year 2 visited Western Beach, Reception enjoyed their Pirate Day, and Year 4 had the opportunity to watch a Shrek performance at Halesowen Town Hall, hosted by Ormiston Forge Academy. We also had a wonderful Nursery Sports Day.

Thursday was an exciting morning as all children met their new class teachers. We work very hard on our transition arrangements to make sure new teaching teams are well-prepared, helping to ensure a smooth start and no lost learning time.

We're also very proud of our Year 6 children, who spent two days this week at their secondary schools. They are a mature and polite group, and we look forward to seeing them progress into young adults.

I'm really looking forward to the Head Girl and Head Boy presentations next week. It's an important process to select our school representatives for the next academic year. Being a Head Girl or Head Boy is a significant responsibility and we encourage all children in Year 5 to consider putting themselves forward.

With a busy end of term, please do check the dates section at the bottom of our family connect for key events.

INSET Days 2025-2026

We’d like to remind all our families of the scheduled INSET (staff training) days for the next academic year. On these days, school will be closed to children.

  • Monday 1st September 2025

  • Tuesday 2nd September 2025

  • Monday 5th January 2026

  • Monday 20th July 2026

Please also note that there is one additional INSET day still to be confirmed. We will share this date with families as soon as it is finalised.

Non-Uniform Day & Bottle Tombola – Wednesday 9th July

We’re excited to let you know that on Wednesday 9th July, all children are invited to come to school in non-uniform (home clothes) for the day. It’s a wonderful opportunity for them to enjoy a break from their usual uniform and show off their favourite outfits!

In return, we kindly ask that each child brings in a bottle donation on this day. This could be a bottle of something fizzy, squash, a nice sauce, bubble bath. All donations will be used for our ever-popular bottle tombola at the upcoming Summer Festival, helping us raise valuable funds for our school.

Thank you so much for your support and generosity – it makes a huge difference and helps us make these events a great success for our school community.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the school office.

We’re excited to offer our fantastic studio space here at Temple Meadow for hire to local community groups and organisations.

If you know any groups, clubs, or individuals who might be interested in hiring this space for classes, meetings, fitness sessions, or other activities, please get in touch with us.

We’d love to help make the most of this wonderful facility and welcome our community to enjoy it!

Year 3 Trip to Cadbury World

Three weeks ago, our Year 3 children enjoyed a truly memorable visit to Cadbury World. The trip offered a fantastic opportunity to learn about the fascinating journey from cocoa bean to chocolate bar, as well as the rich history behind one of Britain’s most beloved brands.

Pupils were delighted to watch expert chocolatiers at work and even tried their hand at chocolate writing—though there were certainly some chocolatey fingers by the end! Of course, no visit would be complete without tasting some of the delicious treats on offer, which was a definite highlight for many.

It was a wonderful day of learning, exploration and sweet enjoyment, and one we’re sure Year 3 will remember for a long time to come.

🏴‍☠️ Shiver me timbers!

Our Reception pirates set sail on Monday for a fun-filled Pirate Day adventure! Dressed in their finest pirate hats and armed with spyglasses, these little buccaneers were ready to explore the high seas of our school.

But oh dear - where was Miss Hodgetts? Had she wandered off with a rival pirate crew?

The children got busy crafting jolly roger flags, treasure maps, pirate hats and spyglasses, all in preparation for an afternoon of swashbuckling excitement. There was lots of chatter about whales, so we marked out just how huge one would be on the playground. Blimey - it was enormous! Everyone took turns pretending to be “swallowed” by the mighty whale and then made a brave escape.

At lunchtime, we heard that some cheeky pirates had stolen Mrs. Cleal’s treasure! With maps in hand and keen eyes through their spyglasses, our young pirates set off on a grand treasure hunt around the school grounds. Before long - hooray! - they struck gold.

But still no sign of Miss Hodgetts… so we made ‘Lost’ posters to help find our missing matey. Just as we were searching high and low, a friendly “shark” (with a big smile) swam through our classroom - turns out Miss Hodgetts had been having her own little adventure!

What a wonderful day of imagination, teamwork and pirate fun. Yo-ho-ho! ⚓😊

Reminder: No Unnecessary Items in School

We’d like to kindly remind all families that children should not bring unnecessary items from home into school, such as toys or teddies.

This week we’ve noticed a number of cuddly toys coming in, which can cause distractions in class and sometimes get lost or damaged.

Thank you for helping us keep children focused on their learning and ensuring special items from home stay safe.
