Friday 20th June 2025

What a busy and extremely warm week it’s been! Please do remember to send your child to school with a refillable water bottle and a named sunhat to help them stay cool and protected. We also ask that suncream is applied before school, as staff are unable to do this during the day.

A big thank you to Ms Dale and our brilliant Pupil Parliament who have launched and led our Healthy Eating Week, encouraging everyone to make healthier snack and tuck choices - what a fantastic initiative!

Huge thanks also to Miss Clarke for organising and running this year’s Science Fair. It’s always such a joy to see how families collaborate at home on their projects, and even more rewarding to watch the children confidently share their knowledge and experiments with so much pride and enthusiasm. Please head over to our Facebook page to see some of the amazing entries. Congratulations to Arthur, Evie-Mae, Kimberley, Jason, Lucy, Finley and Bethany for being our 2025 Science Fair champions!

Last night, we were delighted to welcome our Reception 2025 families - it was lovely to see so many familiar faces and to meet new ones as we grow our Temple Meadow family.

Looking ahead, we are excited about our Sports Days on Tuesday:

  • Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 – 9:15am
  • Reception, Years 1 and 2 – 1:30pm

The forecast is looking hot again - hopefully a touch cooler! We’ll be selling drinks and crisps for adults during the event, with all proceeds going towards our HugglePets Fundraiser, so don’t forget your loose change. All children will be provided with a Tip Top, but refreshments for children will not be available for purchase.

It is vital that children come dressed in their PE kit, bring a refillable water bottle, wear a named sunhat, and have suncream applied before school.

We know families love capturing special moments and you’re welcome to take photographs during Sports Day. However, we kindly ask that any photos taken are for personal use only and must not be shared on social media if they include children other than your own. This is to protect the privacy of all pupils and families.

Finally, a reminder that next Wednesday, 25th June, we’ll be welcoming the Sun Safety Roadshow to school. The School Health Nurse Team will be on site, available to chat about sun safety and answer any questions. Please do feel free to drop in and speak with them - it’s a great opportunity to find out more about keeping your child safe in the sun.

Our Summer Festival is just around the corner! Please see the letter sent to families for all the details.

We can’t wait to see you there!

Outstanding Writing

This week, we are delighted to celebrate some exceptional work from Sophie in Year 3. Inspired by the video stimulus The Lighthouse, Sophie produced a beautifully written piece that demonstrated real depth, imagination and emotion.

Her writing was rich in vocabulary, carefully structured and full of atmosphere. She managed to capture the tension and drama of the story with clarity and creativity -  a fantastic achievement for a writer her age.

Well done, Sophie! We are incredibly proud of your efforts and can’t wait to see what you write next.

Reminder from the School Office

We have noticed an increase in parents visiting the office to drop off lunch bags and other personal items during the school day.

While we understand that things can occasionally be forgotten, we kindly ask that you ensure your child has everything they need - such as their lunch, water bottle and belongings - when they are handed over to their class teacher in the morning.

This helps minimise disruptions to the school day and supports your child’s independence.

This morning, Mrs Van Straaten was out on Clifton Street politely requesting that some of our families park more considerately during the school drop-off period. This follows a number of complaints from our neighbours about parking issues and roads being blocked.Sadly, Mrs Van Straaten was met with rude remarks and argumentative behaviour from a small number of parents when she approached them politely. This is incredibly disappointing. We do understand how challenging it can be to park near the school at busy times, and we continue to campaign with the local council for long-term solutions. In the meantime, we strongly encourage families to make use of our bike and scooter racks or to consider walking, where possible. Parking a little further away and walking in can make a big difference to the safety and wellbeing of all our families and to our relationship with our neighbours. While it is not the school's responsibility to police the roads outside our gates, we do expect polite and respectful behaviour towards all members of the Temple Meadow team. If you are approached, please consider your response and the example being set for our children.Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
