Reception 2025 Open Events

Library Launch

Author Giless Trigg with our Head Boys and Head Girls

What better way to celebrate Roald Dahl Day than welcoming local author Giles Trigg into school.

In an assembly this morning, Giles shared insights into his writing journey followed by officially opening our newly renovated KS1 & KS2 libraries.

Hopefully, all of our children will be leaving school today inspired to explore the magic of reading.

Thank you for those families that have already purchased one of Giles' books.

If you still wish to purchase a book, please visit the School Office and make a payment of Β£5 (cash).

Swimming Update

Temple Meadow follows the National Curriculum and by the end of KS2, pupils should be able to:

  1. Swim competently, confidently, and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
  2. Use a range of strokes effectively, such as front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke.
  3. Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.

In order for all children to meet this standard, we aim to offer all cohorts at least two separate swimming opportunities through their journey with us.

Moving forward there will be a consistent approach and year group pattern so that all children receive a block of swimming lessons whilst in Year 3, Year 4 and Year 6. In addition, this year, Year 5 will also have an opportunity to swim during the summer term.

Our Year 4 and Year 6 swimming lessons are already underway with Year 3 planned for the spring term and Year 5 for the summer term.

As this is a national curriculum requirement, all children will need to participate.

Tuck Shop

As you will be aware, our bright pink Community Hub already offers a range of nutritious snacks to purchase at the start of the school day.

Following family feedback, from Monday 16th September, the Community Hub will also be open at the end of the school day on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday for you to purchase items from our tuck shop.

Reception Coffee Morning

Thank you to those families who attended our Reception Coffee morning this week.

It was lovely to see so many of you networking with each other and our fabulous early years team.

Nut Free School

Nut Free School - Mossley Hollins High SchoolFor the safety and well-being of all our children, please remember that our school is nut-free.

Please avoid sending and snacks or lunch items that contain any nuts.

Harvest

Harvest Festival will be taking place on Monday 30th September 2024 where we will have a whole-school Harvest assembly to discuss the importance of this event.

We will be collecting sealed and canned food items to donate to The Black Country Foodbank.

The organisation is dependent upon donations, especially during uncertain times. Please send any donations of sealed, in-date tins or packets of food, to school with your child on the above date. We will then ensure that these are stored safely ready for collection from a member of staff from the Foodbank.

To further celebrate Harvest, after school on Monday 30th September 2024, we will be hosting an autumn themed competition, 'Guess the Weight of the Pumpkin' where you will have the opportunity to win a hamper.

Each competition entry costs 20p and you can re-enter as many times as you like. Temple Meadow staff will note down your child’s name and class to ensure the winner gets their prize. The winners will be announced in assembly on the following Monday. The money raised will go back to the ECO committee to continue their work across school. The money collected will be cash and coins and you will need to add donations directly into the money box.

One winner in each Key Stage will receive a prize of a food hamper and some autumn themed arts and crafts.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Bikeability

We are really excited to be able to host Bikeability for the first time this year.

On this occasion, sessions will be with our Year 6 cohort and a separate communication will soon be sent to Year 6 families.

We would like to share information regarding free family bike rides that are open and available to all families starting this weekend.

Bikes will be provided so we encourage you to make contact with Cradley Heath community link to book your place.
