Family Connect

Tuesday 3rd September 2024

Dear families,

Welcome back to a new and exciting school year at Temple Meadow.

I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable summer break, filled with memories and relaxation. As we embark on another academic year, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our returning families and a special greeting to those who are joining our school community for the first time.

Our first family connect takes the opportunity to share some key reminders for the term ahead.

Welcoming New Staff

Alongside welcoming our new families, I'm sure you will support us in making Mrs Cleal, Mrs Lemon, Miss Green and Miss Bibi feel part of our Temple Meadow family.

You will find a new feature on our fortnightly family connect where we will be sharing more about our staff team, including our Governors, our roles and what motivates us to work hard each day.

Proud To Be Me

We welcome children back on Wednesday 4th September 2024 and the first three days will be a focus on 'Proud To Be Me'. This is a highly unique and personalised element of our Temple Meadow curriculum which encourages each and every individual child to be the best they can be.

By the end of this series of learning episodes, each child will produce a self-portrait which you will be able to see proudly displayed in our 'new' greeting area.

Arrival locations

As you will be aware, Temple Meadow has wonderful grounds and we are fortunate to be able to open three access points to the school site from both Wrights Lane and Clifton Street. The school gates open at 8:40am, allowing 15 minutes for a smooth flow of families to arrive before the school doors close at 8:55am.

Unfortunately, both Clifton Street and Wrights Lane can become congested during peak times and we do encourage families to walk to school where possible or park and stride.

Please find below our arrival and collection locations:

Swimming

I hope many of you enjoyed watching the Olympics and Paralympics in Paris this summer with Team GB achieving 65 medals in total, with 5 for swimming.

I'm sure you will agree that swimming is an important life skill and we are excited to continue to be able to offer swimming opportunities across the school.

Please do look out for separate communications to those year groups involved.

Year 5&6 Residential

I'm sure our Year 5&6 children and families that have signed up for this years residential are now counting down the days with excitement; they will be travelling to Plas Gwynant Residential on Monday 16th September.

Please see the link below for more information.

The start of a new academic year means the launch of a new school menu.

Please see further on in this Newsletter to find the updated menu.

All children in Reception-Year 2 are entitled to Free School Meals.

If your child is in Year 3-Year 6, your child may be eligible for Free School Meals. Follow the below link for more details. In addition, our School Office will be happy to help with any queries.

Library Launch

One of our first initiatives this year is to officially open both our KS1 & KS2 libraries. We will be welcoming Giles Trigg, a local author of the children's book 'Scruff The Pooch', to Temple Meadow, to work with our children and have the honour of officially cutting the ribbon.

'Scruff The Pooch' tells a heart-warming story of a scruffy dog called Scruff focusing on themes of friendship, loyalties and the adventures of every day life. Miss Dale will be sharing further details on this engaging initiative.

Star Assembly

Our Friday morning assembly is a deep-rooted weekly feature where we come together as a school community to celebrate individual and collective achievements across the school.

Our first STAR assembly will be on Friday 20th September 2024. You will receive an individual invitation to be notified when you are invited to attend.

Moving forward, we would also like to celebrate our children's success and achievements outside of school. If you would like your child to share something they are really proud of, please do speak the School Office Team.

Annual Medical Form

At the end of last term, we sent each child home with an annual medical form. Please do return this to either the School Office, or send it with your child on their first day back in school.

We must obtain up-to-date information regarding your child's medical needs so please ensure that this is returned promptly.

ParentLite

Temple Meadow uses the Parent Lite platform to allow families to update any changes to key information, such as contact details, at any time.

These changes will then be communicated directly to our School Office, and our management information system will then be updated. Please ensure you have activated your account and regularly check that the information we hold in school about your child and any contact details are fully up to date. If you need any support with accessing Parent Lite, please do not hesitate to contact the School Office.
