Dear Parents/ Carers

This has to be the oddest summer term I think we have ever had. We have barely seen any sunshine and today we have had to adapt our Nursery Sport's Day linked to the condition of the field. Fortunately, we chose the nicest days for our KS1 and KS2 Sport's Day. They were so lovely, and I particularly enjoyed the KS2 distance race using our track; we have some very talented athletes.

Head Boy and Head Girl presentations - thank you to the many Year 5 pupils that presented to Mrs Van Straaten and Mr Stevens-Malcolm (unfortunately I was working from home having tested COVID positive, so I was unable to hear the presentations). We have a shortlist and our staff team are busy voting; all will be revealed soon.

Pupil Reports and Questionnaire - I am sure you are all enjoying reading your child's end-of-year report and I do urge you to complete our Questionnaire. There is a prize draw for returned questionnaires.

Countdown to the close of term and a certain someone retiring!

Two more weeks to go until the end of term. Of course, for me, there are only two more weeks left for me as Headteacher at Temple Meadow. The next two weeks will be so busy with so many close-of-year events for us all to squeeze in. I think there is something happening every day across the school from Year 6 leaver events; to Nursery Graduation; Meet the Teachers; transition events etc.

I know separately you have had a communication regarding a lovely Pupil Fun Day planned to celebrate my retirement on Wednesday 17th July (do read that letter which has all the details you need to know). What a treat that will be and let's hope for some sunshine. Thank you to the Temple Meadow team for planning all of this.

Remembering our much-loved colleague

Last week, on 26th June, our staff team remembered a much-loved colleague, Julie Hutchinson who sadly passed away on 26th June 2020. She was such a lovely person; she loved Temple Meadow and had many friends here. We still miss her and think of her with love.

General Election

Following the monumental Election Outcome yesterday, we are, of course, ensuring pupils get opportunities to discuss this if this is what they choose to do. Everyone is living through a truly historic moment, and it will, of course, have a very big impact on education and our local context.

Black Country Day

From land to sea: the journey of Titanic's Anchor - Black Country Living MuseumNext week in school, pupils will have the opportunity to learn all about the Black Country - linked to Black Country Day which is on Sunday 14th July.

Black Country 5ft x 3ft FlagDid you know that there are lots of interesting links to the area's industrial/historical heritage? Such as the Titanic's anchor being made in nearby Netherton and the local women (Cradley Heath) chain makers fighting for change linked to minimum wage. We are challenging pupils to share facts that they have discovered over the week linked to their local area of the Black Country!
