Dear Parents/Carers,

It is lovely to finally have some warm, sunny weather and children are very much enjoying outdoor learning and full access to the field at lunchtime. We have already sent reminders regarding around our hot weather practice linked to sun hats, sun cream and hydration. Thank you for your support with this.

Our new practice regarding access to water when your child does not have a water bottle in school has rolled out very successfully. However, the best way to support your child's hydration is to provide their named water bottle each and every day.

I'm sure following Polling Day, on which the Pastoral Team painted their Community Hub shed bright pink, you all know now where to go to seek information and/or support at the start and end of day.

Pupil Parliament Update regarding crossing on Waterfall Lane

Following a meeting with our MP, James Morris, we have been given an update from Sandwell Local Authority regarding the crossing on Waterfall Lane via one of our Year 5 Parent/Carers who also raised this issue.

'The design has been completed for the new crossing facility, which is now subject to an external safety audit. Providing there are no issues with the safety audit, it is anticipated that the crossing facility will be in the new academic year in September.

Goodbye to Miss Stephenson-Airey

We took the opportunity to say goodbye to Miss Stephenson-Airey last week. We wish her well in her future career.

Other News

Year 3 are currently very busy creating beautiful butterfly mosaics. Once completed, these will be wall-mounted on the green wall near the KS1 entrance. These will be a permanent fixture, brightening up everyone's day throughout the year. We hope to start mounting them after the summer half term.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Chloe for hard work and dedication to ‘cleaning up’ her walk to school route. Chloe reported to Mrs Van Straaten that she was extremely concerned about the amount of rubbish and litter that she encountered on her short walk from home to school each day. Chloe was keen to make a difference in her local community and borrowed a litter picker from school, collecting over 80 pieces of litter and rubbish in just one day. Chloe reports that she found so much plastic and cans that could so easily be recycled alongside sweet wrappers and many unpleasant items such as cigarettes ends.

Please do support each other to keep our local community as clean and safe as possible by ensuring that all waste is disposed of appropriately.

Here is a link that shares lots of available workshops, play groups and programmes to support you on your parenting journey; free of charge. There are many toddler groups such as Junior explorers and born to move.
