Dear Parents/Carers

Welcome back to the summer term; I hope everyone had a lovely restful break (although the weather made it quite a challenge at times for all). Summer term is always lovely at Temple Meadow; already I have a stunning view of the Cherry Tree outside my office and the Ceanothus Bush (wonderful blue flowers are already budding).

This is the term we really get stuck into 'Perfect Planet' activities in which our pupils make positive changes for the future. I intend to get deeply involved and hands-on in my final term at Temple Meadow as ECO, sustainability and changing environments for the better is an absolute passion of mine. Please do keep checking if you have anything you can share with us as we are planting everywhere!

We have had such a lovely first week of the summer term. Our STAR assembly this morning was delightful with so many achieving STAR awards; Kindness Leaves and celebrating personal achievements. We had Sam sharing his Cross Country medal (what an achievement) and Jaxxon sharing his exciting news, as he was chosen to represent England against the USA, in a football match on Easter Sunday at Bromsgrove sports stadium. Unfortunately, they lost 5-4 but Jaxxon was awarded 'Man of the Match', for his hard work and assistance with their two goals; despite being the youngest in the team. Certainly, an accolade to be very proud of.

We also took the opportunity to share the success of our KS1 Multi Sport team which we are so proud of (see further information below).

Farewell to Jenson - thank you to the wide range of staff who attended the service (unfortunately I was away so unable to attend). Please do read their account below. I do love the seed packets dropped into me this week; they are such a lovely way to continue to remember. We will be scattering seeds so that they will appear and flower next year. One of our Perfect Planet projects is our memorial garden, which I previously communicated to everyone about.

On Wednesday 27th March, a number of staff (Miss Dale, Mrs Collins, Miss Nugent, Mrs Colwell, Mrs Smith, Mrs Sprigg, Mrs Adams) joined Jenson’s family and friends at St Giles church in Rowley Regis to remember a wonderful young man and celebrate his life. It was such a personalised service, with many happy memories shared and his lovely attributes, strength and resilience admired. All of those in attendance wore the colours of his beloved Wolverhampton Wanderers football team.

School have been given a number of packets of forget me not seeds that were handed out on the day of Jenson’s funeral. School are now planning where these will be planted on the school site in his memory.
