It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back to school following the October half-term break. As we move further into autumn and the clocks have gone back, the evenings are certainly becoming much darker. Please take extra care when travelling to and from school, particularly during the darker mornings and afternoons.
A huge thank you to all of our children, families and staff who supported this year's Harvest collection. Together, we donated 130kg of food and 3.2kg of toiletries to the Black Country Foodbank, helping to provide 260 meals and 3 toiletry packs for people in need within our local community.
We are incredibly proud of the kindness and generosity shown by our Temple Meadow community.

This week has seen the launch of our Temple Meadow Run Pudsey Challenge in support of BBC Children in Need. Over the next two weeks, children will be running, walking or wheeling laps around our school site, working together towards class and whole-school targets. The challenge is designed to be inclusive, enjoyable and active for all children, whilst supporting a fantastic cause. We have already seen a great deal of enthusiasm from the children and look forward to sharing our progress with families.
On Tuesday, we welcomed our school photographer for our annual individual photographs. It was lovely to see the children looking so smart and taking great pride in representing Temple Meadow. For those children who were absent, we are currently arranging a catch-up photography session, ensuring families have another opportunity to purchase a photograph of their child this year.
Today, our Reception families joined us for our Phonics Stay and Play sessions. This provided a valuable opportunity for families to see phonics teaching in action, learn more about how reading skills are developed and take part in activities alongside their child. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event.
This weekend marks the celebration of Diwali, the Festival of Lights. On behalf of everyone at Temple Meadow, I would like to wish all members of our community who are celebrating a joyful and happy Diwali.
As we approach Remembrance Sunday, families may be interested in exploring the website A Street Near You (A Street Near You - exploring the local legacy of the First World War), which tells the stories of local people who lost their lives during the First World War. It is particularly poignant to discover that a number of names are linked to streets close to our school, including Wrights Lane and Clifton Street. It provides a fascinating opportunity to learn more about the history of our local community and to reflect on the sacrifices made by previous generations.
Looking ahead, next week promises to be another busy and exciting one at Temple Meadow. Our Year 6 children will begin their Bikeability sessions, Year 3 will be visiting Edgmond Hall, Year 1 will enjoy their trip to LEGOLAND, we will be hosting a coffee morning with Reflexions and we will also be celebrating Children in Need Day.
