This week has been one of both celebration and reflection within our Temple Meadow family.
It was with great sadness that we shared with families the news that former Temple Meadow Headteacher, Cathy Walsh, passed away last weekend. Cathy dedicated 15 years to leading our school and was immensely proud of the Temple Meadow community. Her compassion and commitment helped shape the school we know today. Following her retirement in 2024, Cathy faced a Stage 4 brain tumour diagnosis with remarkable courage and dignity. She remained deeply connected to Temple Meadow and often spoke fondly of the children, families and staff who meant so much to her. Our thoughts remain with Cathy's family, friends and everyone whose lives she touched. Her kindness, dedication and unwavering belief in the potential of others will never be forgotten, and her legacy will continue to live on through our school community for many years to come.
Alongside this time of reflection, our children have continued to make us proud through their achievements and enthusiasm. On Tuesday, some of our children travelled to Grace Mary Primary School for a football match. The boys demonstrated great determination throughout their match. Although the result did not go their way, they represented Temple Meadow brilliantly and should be proud of their efforts.
Our girls' team enjoyed a fantastic afternoon, securing an impressive 6-2 victory. They played with confidence and shown excellent teamwork, earning a well-deserved win. We are incredibly proud of all the children who took part and represented our school so positively.
It was lovely to hear some positive feedback from Grace Mary who said 'They were a real credit to your school, showing excellent behaviour, great sportsmanship and a fantastic attitude throughout. It was a pleasure to have them with us.'
This week also marked the start of Year 1 Forest School sessions. The children thoroughly enjoyed their first outdoor learning experience, exploring the natural environment, developing new skills and embracing new challenges. Forest School provides valuable opportunities for children to build confidence and a love of learning beyond the classroom and we look forward to seeing their adventures continue over the coming weeks.
Thank you to all the families who attended our Meet the Teacher events. It was wonderful to see such a great turnout, with the event being very well attended by children and their families. The positive atmosphere, enthusiasm and support from everyone helped make it a real success. We are grateful to all who took part and helped create such an enjoyable occasion for our school community.
