What an incredibly fun and action-packed week we’ve had at Temple Meadow! It’s been one of those weeks where you can truly feel the energy and excitement in every corner of our school.
We kicked things off on Monday with a swashbuckling start in Reception as our youngest children embraced their fantastic Pirate Day. Dressed in creative costumes, the children threw themselves into their learning – singing sea shanties, completing pirate-themed challenges and even setting off on an exciting treasure hunt!
Also on Monday, our Year 3 children set off on their exciting visit to Edgmond Hall. This trip brought their History learning to life as they explored the Stone Age through a range of engaging, hands-on experiences. Opportunities like this are invaluable in helping children deepen their understanding beyond the classroom, and the children represented the school brilliantly throughout the day.
On Tuesday, a group of our children took part in a fantastic Science event in collaboration with Ormiston Forge Academy. The children were able to engage in demonstrations, showcase their own investigations and celebrate their scientific thinking. Their confidence, curiosity and creativity truly shone – we are incredibly proud of how they represented Temple Meadow.
The excitement carried on throughout the week as we moved into Sports Day celebrations on Tuesday and Wednesday. Our Year 1 & 2 children showed fantastic determination, teamwork and huge smiles during their events on Tuesday, followed by an equally impressive afternoon from our Year 3 & 4 children on Wednesday. It was wonderful to see families joining us, cheering the children on and celebrating their achievements together.
We are already looking ahead with excitement to next week, where our Early Years and Year 5 & 6 Sports Days will take place – we cannot wait for more memorable moments on the field!
On Thursday, we held our much-anticipated Meet the Teacher Assembly, giving all children the opportunity to spend time with their new class teacher ahead of September. Transition is such an important part of school life and we place great value on ensuring children feel confident, reassured and excited about what lies ahead. It was lovely to see the children engaging positively, beginning to build those important relationships and looking forward to the next stage of their journey.
Also on Thursday, we were delighted to welcome our Reception 2026 cohort into school for their taster session. It was a pleasure to see our newest children exploring their classrooms, meeting staff and starting to feel part of our Temple Meadow family. These early experiences are so important in building confidence and ensuring a smooth and happy start to school life, and we are so excited to welcome them officially in September.
Thursday also saw our Head Boy and Head Girl presentations take place. This is always a highlight in our school calendar and a wonderful opportunity for our children to showcase their confidence, leadership and commitment to our values of Belong, Nurture, Thrive, Discover and Grow. The standard of presentations was incredibly high and we are so proud of every child who put themselves forward. We look forward to announcing our new Head Boys and Head Girls during our final assembly on Friday 17th July 2026.
Finally, we ended the week in the most vibrant way possible with our Summer Colours Day on Friday. The school was transformed into a beautiful rainbow as children came dressed in bright, summer-themed colours linked to their year groups.
It was fantastic to see the whole school come together in such a joyful and colourful celebration. Thank you to all families for your support and contributions towards the day – every splash of colour really did make a difference!
