As we prepare to break up for May half-term, it has been wonderful to reflect on yet another busy and exciting half-term in school; it's been full of enrichment opportunities and memorable experiences for our children.

This week, some of our Year 6 children have completed their Bikeability training. This fantastic programme supports children in developing essential cycling skills, confidence and road safety awareness.

The children showed great determination and maturity throughout the sessions, a brilliant life skill to take forward as they move on to secondary school.

We also welcomed Mr Bradley from Ormiston Forge Academy, who visited school to find out more and talk to our children about their transition to secondary school in September.

On Tuesday, our Year 3 children wowed us with their Perfect Planet Fashion Show!

Using recycled and pre-loved clothing, they designed and created their own unique outfits before confidently showcasing them on the runway. The creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm on display were truly fantastic and the children should be incredibly proud of themselves.

On Thursday, we were delighted to welcome families from Reception Murphy into school for their Forest School Stay and Play session.

Families had the opportunity to join their children in a range of outdoor learning experiences, including den building, developing physical skills and exploring the Forest School environment together. These sessions are a wonderful way to share learning and celebrate children’s development outside the classroom.

Today, we held our Bring a Bottle Day as part of our ongoing fundraising for the upcoming Summer Festival. Donations will support our bottle tombola and help raise funds for our OPAL project, enhancing outdoor play opportunities for all children.

Thank you to our families for your continued generosity and support.

Also today, we came together to celebrate our Values Award winners, linked to this term’s value of Discover.

It was fantastic to recognise children who have shown curiosity, enthusiasm for learning and a willingness to explore new ideas. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them.

Congratulations to our winners:

Stars Beyond School

We love celebrating the achievements our children make outside of school!

A big well done to Louie in Nursery, who is a member of Squirrels 1st Rowley Regis, attending sessions every Sunday morning.

Louie has already achieved three badges, a fantastic accomplishment, and is well on his way to earning many more. Even more impressively, Louie has been awarded Squirrel of the Week for trying hard and joining in, which is something we are incredibly proud of.

What a brilliant example of enthusiasm, commitment and positive attitude - well done, Louie! 👏🌟

A huge well done to Kai, who is always trying his absolute best at school and at home. His determination and positive attitude are shining through and it sounds like he’s a football star in the making! We were also delighted to hear that Kai recently went fishing and caught his very first fish, what an exciting achievement!

Congratulations to Daisy for her performance in a recent dance competition. Despite feeling nervous and finding big crowds challenging, she showed amazing courage and resilience.

A big well done to both Alice and Lucy, who recently achieved their 15m swimming badges - what a fantastic accomplishment! Their dedication and enthusiasm are clearly paying off.

Congratulations to Alice, who has taken on the role of “Sixer” at Cubs - showing great leadership and responsibility. With her next step to Scouts just around the corner, she has an exciting journey ahead. Her goal of filling her camp blanket with badges is a wonderful ambition and we’re sure she will achieve it!

Lucy is also showing great determination in Beavers, working hard towards her Bronze Award this year. We wish her the very best as she continues towards this fantastic goal.

Safeguarding Information - Concerning Viral Trend

Some schools have been notified about a concerning viral online trend involving “NeeDoh” or squishy silicone toys. Children and young people are reportedly microwaving these toys after watching videos online claiming this makes them softer. In some cases, the toys have burst when handled afterwards, spraying extremely hot contents and causing serious burns to children’s hands and faces.

Parents/carers should also be advised to avoid searching for videos of this trend online, as this can increase the visibility of the content through social media algorithms.
