What a lovely week it has been in school! With the sun shining and the weather feeling much warmer, it has created a positive and cheerful atmosphere across the school, perfect conditions for learning and enjoying time together.
A Very Special Week in Year 2

One of the highlights of the week has undoubtedly been welcoming our chicks into school. It has been absolutely lovely having them with us and watching the excitement they have brought to Year 2.
Over the past few days, the children have carefully observed the chicks as they have grown, changed and become more confident. This hands‑on experience has deepened the children’s understanding of life cycles, caring for living things and responsibility. We have been so proud to see the kindness, curiosity and respect they have shown throughout this special learning journey.
We are delighted to share that one of our school families has very kindly offered to give the chicks a loving new home. The chicks have been safely rehomed and will be well cared for; we are incredibly grateful for this generous support.
Thank you to everyone who has followed along with our updates and helped make this such a memorable experience for our Year 2 children.
Reception Visit to Wild Zoological Park

Yesterday, our Reception children enjoyed a wonderful educational visit to Wild Zoological Park. The children had the opportunity to explore the park, observing a wide range of animals and learning more about different species and their habitats in an engaging, hands‑on way.
The visit supported the children’s understanding of the world, encouraging curiosity, thoughtful questions and discussions about how animals live and how we care for them. Wild Zoological Park’s strong focus on animal welfare and conservation helped the children begin to develop respect and responsibility towards living things.
The children were a credit to the school, showing excellent behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the day. It was a truly memorable experience that brought their learning to life.
🏏 Year 3 & 4 Cricket Event
Also yesterday, some of our Year 3 and 4 children proudly represented the school at a cricket event held at Holly Lodge High School. The children demonstrated excellent teamwork, sportsmanship and determination, and it was great to see them enjoying the opportunity to develop their sporting skills in a competitive setting.

Dare to Be Different Day
Next week, we will be holding our Dare to Be Different Day as part of our fundraising for the OPAL project. Children are invited to wear something that celebrates their individuality and what makes them unique. A cash contribution of £2 (or whatever families are able to give) would be greatly appreciated, with all funds supporting improvements to outdoor play and learning.
Nursery Open Event
We also have our Nursery Open Event coming up in June. If you know any families who may be looking for a Nursery place for September, please do encourage them to sign up. Full details are provided below and we would love to welcome new families to our school community.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. I hope you all enjoy a wonderful and relaxing Bank Holiday weekend.
