It has been another wonderful week here at Temple Meadow, full of enriching experiences that highlight our commitment to outdoor learning, wellbeing and memorable opportunities for our children.

Earlier in the week, our Year 4 children enjoyed an exciting educational visit to Frank Chapman as part of their river studies. The visit gave children the opportunity to explore rivers first-hand through practical fieldwork, observing water flow, examining riverbanks and developing a deeper understanding of how rivers shape the landscape. Experiences like this bring learning to life and support children in making meaningful connections beyond the classroom.

On Monday, we were also delighted to welcome some very special new arrivals into school as part of the Living Eggs ‘Ready to Hatch’ programme. Our chicks arrived safely and Year 2 have been thrilled to observe the life cycle of a chick up close, from egg to hatchling. This hands-on experience has sparked curiosity, excitement and plenty of thoughtful discussion about care, responsibility and living things. It has been a joy to see the children so engaged in this memorable learning opportunity.
This week also saw the final sessions of our Stretch, Yoga and Meditation workshops for Year 1 and Year 5 families. These sessions have provided a valuable opportunity for children and families to slow down together, focusing on movement, mindfulness and wellbeing. We are incredibly proud of the positive way our community has embraced these sessions and the calm, connection and support they have fostered across our school.
Yesterday, we welcomed our Reception Carle families to a Forest School Stay and Play session. It was a pleasure to see children sharing their Forest School environment with their families, confidently exploring activities such as den building, climbing and the mud kitchen. These sessions are a fantastic way to strengthen partnerships with families and celebrate the children’s growing independence and resilience outdoors.
Today, we are delighted to be bringing back our summer tradition of selling a sweet treat to end the week. Snacks will be available this afternoon from the KS2 playground, with our Nursery also offering treats for purchase. All money raised will go towards our OPAL funding, helping to further enhance play opportunities for our children. We hope many of you are able to join us and enjoy a small treat with your child.
Finally, we would like to make you aware that we have finalised two of our allocated five Inset Days for the next academic year. These dates are:
- Tuesday 1st September 2026
- Monday 4th January 2027
We will let you know once the remaining three Inset Days have been allocated.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and involvement in school life. It truly makes a difference.
