Welcome back, everyone, to what has already been a positive start to the summer term. It has been a real pleasure to see the children return to school so settled, refreshed and ready to learn after the Easter break. Although the weather hasn’t quite warmed up yet, the brighter mornings and longer days have certainly brought renewed energy across our school community and the school site is already looking lovely as it begins to blossom for the season ahead.
🌟 Celebrating Outstanding Year 1 Writing 🌟
We are incredibly proud of some amazing writing produced by our Year 1 children this week! A huge well done to Idris, Phoebe and Amelia, who have impressed us with their fantastic ideas, careful sentence writing and growing confidence as authors

👏 Well done, Year 1 superstars! 👏
This week, we were delighted to welcome nine new children into our Nursery. Starting school is such a special milestone and it has been wonderful to see how quickly our newest members have settled into their routines. We are very proud of the calm, nurturing environment we offer in Nursery and look forward to supporting both the children and their families as they begin their Temple Meadow journey with us.
Wellbeing continues to be a key focus this term and we have been delighted to continue our Yoga sessions for children in Years 1, 5 and 6. These sessions provide valuable time for children to slow down, reflect and develop strategies for managing emotions, focus and resilience. The children have engaged beautifully, and it has been heartening to see them embracing mindfulness, movement and breathing techniques as part of their school day.
We are also incredibly proud of our pupils who represented Temple Meadow at the SHAPE Conference this week. Our Headboys and Headgirls, alongside our Year 5 School MPs, attended the event on Wednesday, working with children from schools across Sandwell to share ideas, develop leadership skills and explore pupil voice. They represented our school with confidence, maturity and enthusiasm, and we are very proud of how thoughtfully they contributed to discussions.
It has been lovely to see so many exciting learning experiences taking place already this term, including:
- Year 3 swimming sessions
- Reception’s exciting Bear Hunt adventure
- Creative learning experiences shared across school on our Facebook page
Over the Easter break, Year 6 were set the challenge of reading in the most unusual places, and we have absolutely loved seeing their creativity, enthusiasm and commitment to reading.
Everyone at Temple Meadow would like to send our very best wishes to Miss Hodgetts as she prepares to welcome her baby. We wish her a happy, healthy and very special time and hope she enjoys every moment of her maternity leave.
We were also very pleased to welcome Miss Barnham back into school for a few days this week, as she prepares to return to us in the coming weeks following her maternity leave. It has been lovely to see her back at Temple Meadow reconnecting with colleagues and we very much look forward to welcoming her back fully very soon.
In addition, we would like to extend a warm welcome to Mr Whitehead, who has joined Temple Meadow as our new Site Manager. Mr Whitehead started with us on Monday and has already made a positive impression, getting to know the school site and supporting the smooth running of day‑to‑day operations. We are delighted to have him join our team.
Looking ahead, planning is now well underway for our Summer Festival and we are really hoping the sunshine will make an appearance! If you are able to donate a prize for the raffle or know someone who may be able to help, we would be incredibly grateful - please do get in touch. This year, we are also offering a small number of stalls at the festival; if you or someone you know may be interested, please contact the school for more information.
Throughout the summer term, we will also be continuing to seek pupil and family voice as part of our ongoing review of school policies. This is an important way for families to share views and help shape decision‑making. Please keep an eye out for parent questionnaires covering areas such as Uniform Policy, Home Learning, and other key aspects of school life.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It has been a joyful first week back, and we are very much looking forward to all that the summer term has to offer.
