It has been a truly lovely week in school, especially with the launch of OPAL (outdoor play and learning).
Even though it’s not quite the official start of meteorological spring just yet, our school grounds are already beginning to blossom and our children are making the very most of it! From exploring nature to enjoying the fresh air, today was a perfect reminder that brighter days are on the way.
Here’s to many more joyful OPAL playtimes as spring approaches!
These lovely photos were taken by Rhemico in Year 3.

Yesterday, some of our Pupil Parliament members had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy a munch and a chat with our Chair of Governors and Vice Chair of Governors. They children talked about their important roles in our school and the Governors answered lots of brilliant questions from the children.
A huge thank you to Claire Lamb and Annie Stanford for giving up your time today and sharing such valuable insight with our young leaders. We really appreciate your support!
Next week we celebrate World Book Day, and we are really looking forward to seeing everyone’s book character costumes or cosy pyjamas on Thursday 5th March. It’s always one of the most magical days of the school year; the staff get so competitive!
Our teaching team has been extremely busy working with Mrs Bayley to review provision maps for children who require additional support and intervention in school. If your child is on our SEND register, you should already have received or will shortly receive a copy of their updated provision map. We are so passionate about our inclusive practice and incredibly proud of our highly trained and dedicated staff team.
You may have seen that this week the Government released their White Paper Every child achieving and thriving.
What is the paper about?
The Government has released a major new education white paper outlining how schools and the SEND system will be reformed to make sure every child can achieve and thrive, especially those who have previously been sidelined or struggled to access the support they need.
Key points for parents:
- A broader and more balanced school experience
The paper explains that education needs to move from being “narrow to broad,” meaning children should achieve academically and develop socially, emotionally, and personally.
- Stronger support for children with SEND
The paper sets out reforms designed to ensure children with special educational needs and disabilities get the right help earlier and more consistently. This includes significant improvements to specialist support and services.
- Rebuilding support around families
The Government highlights increasing pressures on children and families and says services around schools - such as youth clubs, Best Start hubs, and breakfast clubs - will be strengthened to provide earlier and more consistent help.
- Tackling disadvantage and absence
There is a focus on reducing persistent absence and widening access to free school meals, as well as tackling child poverty - changes the Government says are essential for giving every child the chance to succeed.
This white paper is the Government’s plan to make sure all children, whatever their needs, get the support, teaching, and opportunities they deserve. It aims to create schools where children not only achieve academically but also feel included, supported, and ready to thrive in a changing world.
Don’t forget to book your Family Engagement Evening slot. We are very much looking forward to meeting with you and discussing your child’s progress and achievements.
