Governor Updates
I am delighted to share that following last night’s Governing Board meeting, we have welcomed several new Governors to Temple Meadow Primary School. We are incredibly fortunate to have individuals of such high calibre and expertise joining us, and I know you will join me in offering them a warm Temple Meadow welcome.
Below, you can find a little more information about each of our new Governors:
Lisa Mason – Principal at Ormiston Forge Academy
Lisa began her teaching career in Further and Higher Education before moving into secondary education in 2003—a move she describes as one of the most rewarding of her career because of the impact it has on young people’s lives.
She has been part of Ormiston Forge Academy since it opened in 2012 and became Principal in 2019. Before that, she served as Assistant Headteacher at The Heathfield Foundation Technology College, overseeing the Sixth Form and Key Stage 4 outcomes, as well as teaching mathematics.
Lisa is also the Designated Safeguarding Lead at Ormiston Forge Academy and is actively involved in Sandwell’s Children’s Safeguarding Partnership, contributing to a range of important safeguarding groups.
Her wealth of experience, particularly in safeguarding and leadership, will be a significant asset to our Governing Board.
Vicky Whittaker – Senior Leader at Ormiston Forge Academy
Vicky will celebrate 20 years in teaching next year. She is a Senior Leader for Teaching and Learning, leads EAL provision (from January 2026), and is Subject Leader for Classics as well as SLT link for History. She is passionate about ensuring every child receives high‑quality learning experiences and firmly believes that learning should never be left to chance.
Her current work focuses on metacognition and effective classroom practice—areas that strongly support the development of independent, resilient learners.
Vicky also serves as a teacher‑governor at Ormiston Forge Academy and is looking forward to expanding her governance role at Temple Meadow. She is particularly keen to learn more about the primary phase and the transition into secondary education.
Her expertise in teaching and learning will be extremely valuable to our school.
Simon Cains – Deputy Headteacher at Grace Mary Primary School
Simon joins us with over 20 years of experience in education, including more than a decade as Deputy Headteacher at Grace Mary Primary School. His leadership experience spans curriculum development, teaching and learning, assessment, standards, E‑safety, CPD, teacher development, and performance management. He also leads reading, mathematics, history, and geography at his school.
Simon is an experienced governor and brings a strong background in analysing academic and attendance data, helping to identify trends and support strategic, evidence‑based decision‑making.
His commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical governance will be invaluable to our Board.
We are genuinely thrilled to welcome such skilled and supportive professionals to Temple Meadow. Their combined experience across safeguarding, curriculum, teaching and learning, leadership, transition, and data‑driven improvement will greatly enhance the work of our Governing Board.
We look forward to you meeting them in due course.
