We strongly believe that Maths homework is a valuable extension of the work that children complete within class and does support overall pupil progress.
We have taken on board feedback from parents and understand that it can sometimes be challenging to support Maths homework when the methods used within school are often different to those you may be more familiar with. It can also be difficult to complete when your child is unsure of what is expected of them. We have therefore decided to implement a mental arithmetic scheme to bring a progressive, consistent and motivational approach to homework.
The scheme is called the Temple Meadow 100 Club and has progressive levels covering a combination of addition, subtraction, division and multiplication skills but also increasing speed and recall. It also covers other aspects of the National Curriculum including decimals, fractions and time. The tasks are progressive and children will be working through the levels at their own pace. Your child will be working on a level as chosen by their teacher.
Your child will be tested within school once per fortnight and once they have completed all questions with speed (appropriate to their level and age) and confidence they will receive a certificate and be promoted to the next level. There is no limit to the number of weeks that your child may remain on the same level but the aim is to ensure they are confident and secure before moving on.
We hope that you will be able to support your child in progressing through the levels by using the attachments below and that they will enjoy achieving the success and receiving their certificates.
