Class Teacher with TLR2a (PE & Dance) Vacancy
Come and join our teaching team and move into leadership with a TLR2a leading on PE and Dance, ready for September 2018. There is so much good and innovative practice happening at Temple Meadow, that you really need to visit us, to see if this post is the one for you. We really do want the right person, someone who can fit into our school seamlessly. This is such a ‘peach’ of a role – rarely advertised as a TLR responsibility – this just demonstrates how much we value PE and being active. I’m open to a KS1 or KS2 experienced teacher as clearly the right person will fit appropriately into the September teaching model.
We are a two-form entry Primary School, judged Good at our recent Ofsted in January 2018. Our unique characteristics as a school are our commitment to Irresistible Learning, which puts a creative curriculum at the heart of learning. All around our lovely school, you will see colour and engaging displays - we don’t do beige! We have embedded Singapore Maths across the school. We have a culture of collaborative learning. If we can make learning fun, then we always do. Our assessment systems are a school strength. We have high quality CPD and recently had inset from FFT on writing. Following our OFSTED we had an inset day at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery where all subject leads including PE shared their vision for their subject. Each phase is led by an AHT and we will ensure that your induction into our learning culture is supportive and immersive.
We are extremely proud of our safeguarding and day to day practice around school, keeping children safe; and working with families. You will really feel that what you do, on a daily basis is highly positive, and makes a difference to children’s lives. We so want the ‘right’ person. We are therefore seeking, first and foremost, a committed and talented teacher who is able to deliver consistently 'good' lessons to our pupils. Secondly we are looking for someone who wants to grow their career by leading with a TLR2a for PE and Dance. We are a school with plenty of opportunities to advance and develop your career. We grow outstanding teachers by our imaginative and innovative approach to curriculum development.
You will need to have a minimum of two years’ experience as a qualified teacher and experience of leading a subject. You must have a passion for PE and active lives. You need a proven record of raising standards within a primary setting (not suitable for a secondary teacher). Ideally you will have experience of urban Local Authorities such as Sandwell and an understanding of the range of diverse needs that affect school life. We set great store by developing CPD opportunities through staff training; coaching and mentoring; and working with external providers.
We really are so proud of our school; we offer a vibrant and stimulating learning environment. Added to that we really do have the most fantastic pupils with excellent behaviour and attitude to learning. As a staff team we are always looking at ways to support work life balance. Innovation is a disease at Temple Meadow – we just can’t stop improving all areas of school life!
Part of the interview process will involve a teaching task, as this is key to selecting an effective, caring professional that will fit into life at Temple Meadow. Additionally, you will do a presentation linked to your ideas for leading PE and Dance with a TLR2a responsibility.
We encourage visits to the school and I have set aside some slots for visits; so do please contact the school office to arrange a visit.
Application packs are available from and returnable to the school office. Application packs can also be downloaded from the Local Authority website. All completed applications must be returned either by post or delivered directly to the school office. Interested applicants can contact the school on 01384 569021.
